The battle for space within your mobile by app companies is pretty strong. With limited internal storage and the operating system taking up too much space with every update, you always juggle between uninstalling something before installing anything new. For a travel blogger like me, I need essential travel apps which are critical for my journeys. Though I book my flights and hotels quite early, most of my itinerary is ad-hoc, unplanned and I let it decide on that day. So here are the top travel apps 2018 that I feel is very useful and something you should definitely check out.
Top Travel Apps 2018
1.Travello : Travel Social Network App
This was a relatively recent discovery by me and the premise is really interesting.A social network specifically for travellers ( new or seasoned ) to connect with local people or fellow travellers and catch up with them or probably even head out for a common trip. You can match your travel plans with fellow travellers, discover other similar travellers nearby post travel updates, pictures and also happen to get location based travel deals right now. They also run regular competitions for app users . Their current competition is a prize for two worth up to AUD$4K. So participate quickly. A multi function travel app, Travello should be watched out to be the next bigger thing in the coming months !

2. Air Asia / AirAsia Big
If you’re a frequent flyer in Asia and always hunting for the best low cost fares in flights, you can’t get it any cheaper than in AirAsia. The domestic fares start as low as 1299 ($20) and International fares to Malaysia or Thailand from India starts at 3500 INR (50$). Why the app ? Because if you are an AirAsia Big Loyalty member, you get notified of “App” only Member sales which can get you some amazing deals. If you are luck,y you can get a roundtrip ticket to Australia from India for just 20,000 INR(300$).

3. Seat61
An extremely useful train / bus travel guide for almost everywhere in the world, this gives you photos, information , sites and fares of trains and buses between two destinations within the country you want to visit. Be it Vietnam to Hong Kong or Singapore to Malaysia, Seat 61 covers them all in extreme detail. Hands down one of the best transport information websites I’ve seen so far. A special recommendation for train lovers as well ! . Check it out at https://www.seat61.com/
4. Happy Cow
For all those vegetarians and vegans, flying across the world, you can never really be guaranteed a vegetarian option always. HappyCow helps you list all the vegetarian food options nearby your locaiton and can be quite the lifesaver

5.Kayak
If you are a frequent international flyer , Kayak can be a lifesaver. The flight options are a plenty with some very good fares and in many cases cheaper than the airline site itself by roughly 50-60$ easily . I don’t know how they do it , but despite ultimately routed to the airline site in the end , the fare you see is way cheaper than the fare you might have seen if you had logged into the airline site by yourself.

6. Expedia
I primarily use Expedia to know the “daily activities” or individual tours one can do in a new city. Be It surfing or a street walking tour or even a short group tour, Expedia offers you plenty of choices and ideas. You can do them on your own by going to the venue and getting a better deal, but the different choices you get to see makes it super useful

7. CityMapper
Currently available for limited cities in Europe, UK & US , citymapper is becoming a widely popular “public transport” app within a city. Select your city and choose the start and end point and it gives you a wide array of options to choose from. They have everything from bike / cycle / bus routes , cost of ticket etc and comes mighty useful
